Practice
EMILY E. USEMAN focuses her practice on civil litigation and insurance defense, in both first-party and third-party cases. She represents individuals and corporate clients in a variety of matters involving personal injury, property damage, and general liability claims. Drawing on her extensive background in both law firm and in-house settings, Emily is experienced in all phases of litigation, from initial case evaluation through trial preparation.
Experience
Emily joined the firm following her admission to the Colorado Bar in 2025. Before becoming an attorney, she gained substantial litigation experience at both small firms and a large regional law firm, where she worked on complex commercial and mass tort matters across all phases of litigation. She also served as the sole paralegal for an in-house legal department, where she managed corporate and litigation matters and played a key role in due diligence efforts for an $825 million acquisition.
Education
Emily earned her Bachelor of Arts in Law, Economics, and Public Policy from the University of Washington and later obtained her Paralegal Certificate from Louisiana State University. She received her Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center, graduating in the top 15% of her class.
Admissions
Emily is admitted to practice in Colorado and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.

Emily’s professional associations include the Colorado Bar Association (CBA), Colorado Defense Lawyers Association (CDLA), and the Defense Research Institute (DRI).
Honors
Emily received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Professional Responsibility, Basic Civil Procedure, and Family Law during law school. She was also awarded the Robin Raasch Book Award Scholarship and the Louisiana AFL-CIO Labor Scholarship.
Other Interests
Outside of her practice, Emily enjoys taking advantage of Colorado’s outdoors, from hiking and scenic weekends to exploring new places around the state. She values time with friends and family and spends much of her downtime with her two rescue dogs, Kobe and Copper.
She also enjoys live music, trying new restaurants, and staying active whenever her schedule allows. When time permits, she enjoys traveling back to her home state of Louisiana to visit friends and family.
